The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of the Southwest State of Somalia (MOECC-SWS) is the governmental body responsible for safeguarding the region’s natural resources, promoting sustainable development, and addressing environmental challenges such as deforestation, habitat destruction, and climate change. Our mission is to create a harmonious balance between economic growth and environmental protection, ensuring that future generations inherit a thriving, resilient ecosystem.
Established to lead the state’s environmental and climate change efforts, the MOECC-SWS takes a proactive approach to protecting biodiversity, enforcing environmental regulations, and restoring degraded lands.
